next door deli
we drove pass the deli to our favourite western food place on several occasions. attracted by the unique decor and ambiance of the eatery in the neighbourhood beside pine garden bakery, we decided to check out the food there. it’s a self-service deli, where you order from the counter, serve your own drinks (non-refillable), and wait for your number to be buzzed for the food collection.
it servers both eastern and western cuisines, and the mains are less than $10, except for the angus beef. you can top up $2.50 for a soft drink + dessert or $3.50 for a soft drink + soup + dessert.
i had the ndd house burger ($7.80) and topped up $2.50 for the soft drink and dessert.
do not be turned off by the pale color of the meat patty. the thick meat patty is a mixture of pork and beef, and i like the crunchy bits of water chestnut, carrots in it. the inside was crumbly with a slightly moist texture, and it would be perfect, if the outside is crispy.
i find the food portion is small, for the price i’d paid. my tummy wouldn’t be satisfied, if it wasn’t for the sea-salt brownie with ice cream. if you are a light eater, do check out the deli while you are within the vicinity.
