the 2nd last running event of the month

it was rather rare for me to be able to sleep well on the eve of a race. the temperature went up again on race day, probably due to the rain from the previous day.

my usual routine before proceeding to the event site – hydrate with a bottle of water. about 45 minutes before the race, one pack of gel and toilet break. we were finally flagged of 5 mins past 7 am. the 10km race route was similar from the year before, with distance markers at every 2km.

despite one toilet break before approaching the race site, my bladder was filling up again, while i was in the race pent. i stopped for another toilet break and by the time i emerged from the loo, the 1 hr 10 min pacers were nowhere in sight. the last time i got sight of them, was before the u-turn point at the singapore flyer. 🙁

it took me 45 minutes to queue for the race kit collection. i completed the run slightly earlier last year, and therefore, was being spared from the long queue. the advantages of finishing early – shorter queue time, more time to check out the sponsors’ booth and to display my sports photography skills.

i never expect myself to outdo or break the previous PB, but nevertheless, was glad to see an improvement after the JLR. 2 training runs, and 1 more 10km run this weekend to conclude the running events for the month.
