birthday treat
i spent a few days, poring over the internet for reviews on the staycation hotels the hubby had selected, and settled for the hassle free birthday package at wangz hotel. parking at the basement carpark is complimentary and based on a first-come-first basis. the package includes the following:
- free upgrade to the canopy room
- breakfast for two at nectar
- complimentary welcome drink at halo rooftop lounge
- 250g birthday cake
- complimentary wired and wireless connection
- complimentary mini-bar (coke, coke light, canned fruit drinks, wangz mineral water, twinings tea and nescafe coffee)
- complimentary use of the gym
- 25% off ala carte dining items at nectar or halo
my first impression of the room – clean and spacious. there is a dvd player, ihome docking station for ipod, and piped in music. the working desk by the side of the bed is good for 2 person, side by side. we were contented with the overhead shower, even though we thought the space is a good fit for a bathtub.
contrary to the reviews on tripadvisor, the noise of the traffic generated from the intersection’s hardly audible, despite the low floor (3rd floor to be exact).
as soon as we get settled down to make good use of the in-house facilities, we received a surprised room service from the hotel staff, with a birthday song and a tiramisu cake.
partly due to the pouring rain and the soft and comfortable bed, we spent the day lazing in the room, and only stepped out for dinner in the late evening. i only get to pamper myself with the molten brown toiletries on the last of our stay. breakfast was fine, with a small selection of hot food, breads, cheese, salad, cold cuts, fruits, cereal, yogurt, juices and hot beverages. the halo rooftop lounge has a view, overlooking the central business district area, and i would say a good place to unwind at the end of the day.
overall, it was a pleasant stay in a lovely boutique hotel. the experience had been enhanced further by the friendly and attentive hotel staff. i will consider returning to the hotel, and this time, to check out the soak room.
