running the run…

without any distance indicator suited me fine. i couldn’t see how far i’d ran, neither do i know how much farther to the finish line. time was no longer of an essence when my goal was to maintain my pace and keep on running. i emptied my thoughts – devoid of tiredness, the heavy but regular breathing that gave momentum to my pair of feet, plodding along the gravel road.

this is my first run that i’d managed without stopping or paused to take a break. had i quicken my pace in the final leg of the race, i might be able to improve my timing by more than 10 minutes (probably overtake the cerebos-attired runner who was a mere 400 meters away from me).
