the conference calls, and the must-have tool

i’m easing myself into a new environment where every single/simple step and task is governed strictly by standards, procedures and policies.

i had been warned of regular night conference calls during the interview process, due to the time zone difference of my team mates. spared from the weekly team meeting night call on my first week of work, and i am preparing myself for at least 1 night call per week. glad to be issued with the standard headset without having to go through the expense claims process, especially since i am new to the company.

i have been a fan of plantronics products, ever since my first bluetooth headset from them. the issued headset is a usb type, with built-in volume controls, mute and call buttons. incoming calls from the softphone and IM will be alerted via the inline indicator lights on the control. majority of the calls are conducted over webex or lync, and the headset is a necessity hardware used for communication with my colleagues in the region.

i just hope the calls will stick to 1 or 2 per week as the time goes by, no matter how comfortable it feels over my ears.
