amazing india part I
we covered a total distance of 850 km, nodding our heads to the constant blearing of horns, touring around delhi, agra and jaipur, i’d arrived at my final destination – bangalore. the weather was welcoming, considering the hot weather we experienced in the north. consider ourselves lucky as the usually rain brought down the hot temperatures in the north.
food is never an issue nor consideration for me. i took the local food, and had a taste of fast food (yes…i hardly take fast food back home), macdonald’s and kfc. all the local restaurants don’t serve beef, so we opted for chicken maharaja mac, which is the equivalent of our big mac. the chicken patty is a little spicy and tasted like meshed up tandoori chicken.
for the weak stomachs, it is advisable to ignore the food stalls along the road. we tried bbq sweet corn and chai along the highway from jaipur to delhi. our driver only introduced food which he deems safe for our consumption, and we were both fortunate to stay well.
most of the pictures were taken on my humble eos300 while i capture the places on my iphone when i ran out of film.
our first stop after we arrived in agra – the taj mahal. it rained when we arrived at the palace grounds and i can hardly capture any shots on my eos300, for fear that rain water will seep into the camera and ruin the lenses. you won’t be allowed to bring larger bags into the premises.
still within agra, and located about 40 km from taj mahal, we headed to fatehpur sikri, which is one of the most vist places. as usual, we were welcomed with heavy rain towards the end of our tour. it was in fatehpur where we got into an argument with the tour guide, whom we did not want to hire, in the first place.
we skipped agra fort, but drove pass to get a few shots before heading to jaipur. the main city is located in pink city, surrounded by orangish-pink fort / straight rows of buildings.
we rested 2 nights in jal mahal palace hotel and those nights were almost unforgetable. there is a small green course near to the entrance of the hotel. one can find a large chessboard in the lawn, facing the restaurant.
i’m glued to my bed, after taking the diarrhoea pills (yes…i now have diarrhoea), i’m ready to make myself comfortable in front of the tv, before dozing off to lalaland…
