the tropical garfish or ikan buaya is a fresh water fish, distributed in the mountainous areas of tibet, szechuan, northern yunnan and other smaller regions of east asia, and central america. it can be found commonly in stagnant backwaters, and slow moving rivers and lakes and can grow more than 1.6m in length.

the garfish, like the alligator, is an ambush predator that resembles a floating log waiting for its prey. this fish is often mistaken for the alligator garfish which is the largest garfish from north america which can grow more than 2.5m.

I’ve seen garfish at the fishmonger here in Australia. I had no idea what if looks like alive, It reminds me of a platypus.
