mamil milkathon
do you know there is a world milk day? the world milk day was first held on 1st june 2001 and many countries throughout the world have participated in the celebrations.
the mamil milkathon was organized in conjunction with the world milk day, for preschoolers aged between three to six. the early morning run did not dampen the spirits of the young participants and their parents, but it got hot towards mid morning. in spite of that, the kids and their parents lifted up the plastic cups of mamil gold milk and toasted with cheers of, “i am a record breaker”, at east coast park. i was one of the 1,850 participants in the milk toasting event that broke the singapore book of records.
the other highlight of the event was the 1km walk and the participants were gathered and lined up before the Start point, right after the record breaking milk toast.
local celebrity, Mark Lee, the emcee for the event sounded off the horn at the the flagoff point.
my hubby signed up for the volunteer and was being assigned the road marshall in one of the drink stations.
it was fun to capture the kids – some ran to complete the race, some cried along the way and some were on the arms of their parents.
needless to say, i got a nice tan from the event. more pictures on the event can be found on my flickr set for Mamil Milkathon @ East Coat Park – Jun 19 2010.
