the new gadget

it took me 2 weeks to decide on a desktop replacement to a laptop, and 1 hour to seal a deal with epi@orchard for a 24″ imac.

i wouldn’t go into the details on the how good the deal is, as it isn’t. the determining factors are 1) the dwindling performance of my current ubuntu desktop and the system hung and there is a high lagging symptom on wordpress post or flash games, (2) one month waiver off credit card installment payment for 24 months (i took the 12 months..duh!), (3) 0% installment payment on credit card, (4) hardly any viruses, (5) i’m not a hard core gamer (with ubuntu usage since 2 years ago, the only games i played are online. gone are the sims and diablo days).

i’m into the second day of usage and on the road to discover how simple mac os work, and the marvel of one-mouse clicks. even though i have to admit there is a bit of struggling on the installation of applications.

there’s always something new to find out and learn every day. my only complain is the amount of space taken by the screen. half of my matte glass writing board is hidden behind the 24″ screen. the plastic cover, protecting the screen, has been left intact. i serious need to consider getting an anti-glare screen protector and a keyboard protector.

and i’m counting down to 4 days before i register the apple care protection.
