GE women 10k
by 7 am, it was a sea of red outside suntec city, while the 10k all female competitors were waiting patiently for the flag off. i couldn’t help but sensed there were more runners this year compared to the previous year. the flag off was 12 minutes later than the scheduled time at 7 am, and it wasn’t easy to weave my way around the sea of red.
6 cheer leading teams greeted the runners along the route to cheer and motivate us towards the finishing line. out of the 6 teams, i can remember only burger, flash, and the team with the “cute guy ahead” signboard. one water point was available near the start point and the remaining 4 water points were distributed every 2.5km. the breeze was welcoming and refreshing, and the heat didn’t get into me till the turn after nicoll highway mrt station and the float @ marina bay.
towards the last 500m to the finish line, passerby clapped cheered us on and some even offered a high five. i broke into a sprint as soon as the timing device’s visible.
i didn’t run well as well as the nike run, but still it is an improvement over the 1 hr 26 mins from last year.
so that concludes my last run for the month of oct, no more early sunday mornings and breakfast, at least for the next 2 weeks.
the official run time – 1:10:27 (chip time), 1:12:34 (gun time).
