frost the trail (2nd take)
the frost the trail event changed the running route since last year. the trail portion of the run is less than 3km, however, we have not been spared from the up and down slopes along lornie road.
we were flagged off promptly at 7.30 am and ran towards the lornie trail. i was expecting some congestion along the running path, since there were more than 600 purported participants. clearing the trail portion was a breeze though, and overtaking was fairly easy, despite the narrow path.
the oh-so-nice weather and the mentality to avoid the sun before it gets too hot, gave me the additional boost of energy. i heeded the advice from a friend whom i met before the race, to take slow climb up the slopes and faster steps downwards.
by the time i spotted the water point, i was too late for me to turn back. and i wasn’t keen to hold onto a normal sized mineral water bottle along the last 1.5km towards the finishing line.
needless to say, i was surprised by the result, considering the terrain. the additional 1km was included as i only discovered that the activity was still running, while in the queue for the finisher tee collection.
the pain on my heel is back, and i have another 2 weeks to rest before the run up in the north.
