first take on my new gadget

it has been 2 weeks since the 1.5 hour queue for the much coverted iphone 5, and finally using it and owning it. the design is different and definitely not boring, especially with the dual-toned backplate finish.

i’m trying to get used to the elongated phone, where the iphone 4 used to fit snugly my hand, but that has been compensated with a lighter and thinner body.

i was on LTE, only a day, after the downgrade on my iphone plan. on the old plan, the unlimited data usage was none of my concern. a decrease in data plan on the re-contract, albeit with the faster data access through LTE, i’m now more cautious on the usage.

installed the free app, datawiz, to keep track of my mobile data usage. it goes beyond the tracking usage, by having the ability to analyze the usage, and creates a prediction of the data usage over time. there are settings which allow you to set the billing period, and daily/monthly data cap with alerts. what’s more, you can get an overview of when you used it.

the battery life fares better than my previous iphone 4, and able to last up to 12 hours. it does help to close the apps running in the background, and turn off unnecessary notifications. all apps had been installed from scratch, thus eliminating the possibility of affecting the performance of the phone due to compatibility issues.

i’d yet to fiddle around with the other features like facetime, the ishoot panorama, and to test the cool new headphones.

the iphone 5 shall be with me for the next 2 years, till the release of the next generation of iphone, granted that apple maintained the same phone length.
