the walkathon, and makanathon

due to the uncertainties over the haze, the wind direction, lots of races held over the last 2 weekends were cancelled. the scmkl was cancelled, much to the dismay of the international runners.

the sky was almost clear of the existence of haze, even though it was hot on the day when we arrived in the city. no marathon, no run photography, we took to the streets with lots of walking to compensate for the lost.

we had the honor to be hosted by a local (runner cum photograher) friend who brought us out for our makanathon. jalan alor, our dinner place was about 20 minutes walk from our hotel. the bbq chicken wings from wong ah wah restaurant, and the mao shan wang durian, are both irresistible.

ironically, the sky was almost clear of haze, and the heat and humidity started to kick in only in the late morning, on sunday. the local runners organized a 21km lsd run in the morning, and international runners including the singapore runners joined in the fun.

armed with my humble pns galaxy camera, there was little room for me to capture the runners. i tried to take portrait shots of the runners, but ended up taking still shots for the runners. 😀 nevertheless, i was glad to be able to capture the tire guy in action!

thanks to our host, we were introduced to the backlanes of the chinatown, where one can find long queues and good food. the live chicken store, un-refrigerated meat stall, were all in the memories of a visit to the wet market in my younger days.

the main highlight of this trip was the opportunity to meet up with the local and international runners. we had our ice breaking session over makan sessions.

i gained a few more pounds after the trip, hopefully, for good reasons.
