why does it always rain…
in the afternoon, after the morning runs or walks?
the 2.8km bukit timah nature reserve walk this morning wasn’t as exhausting, compared to the previous 5km runs. the all shapes pink walk has been held in collaboration with the fight for breast cancer activity. the guest of honour, eunice olsen, flagged off the event at 8 am.
when i made my first ascend on the uneven steps up the hill, memories of mount kinabalu “heavenly steps” filled up my mind. comparing ascend with descend, the former is easier on my knees and how i am grateful that i do not have to take the uneven steeps down from the summit.
probably the first time i made it to the summit was more than 10 years ago, during one of my primary school outings.
bukit timah hill is Singapore’s highest natural point. the first men to reach the summit was Singapore’s Resident Councillor John Prince and his contractors in Jun 1827. it took them 5 hours to cover a distance of 22.5km of plantations, hills and swamps from the south.
we ended our morning with brunch from oldtown white coffee.
i love the fried chicken wing and the ikan bilis.
sure looks spicy but yummy. the gravy’s thick, so are the chicken slices.
knowing that i will be back for the white coffee, no pictures taken on my maiden brunch. there are currently 4 outlets in singapore.
