yellow ribbon prison run finisher memento

the 2010 finisher memento for the 2nd prison run is the replica of a prison officer’s key. the key is significant, not only for the ex-offenders who have been released from the physical prison, but also to unlock the 2nd prison that lies within the community.

the heavy morning downpour on the race day did not dampen the spirits of the runners and the race was flagged off half an hour later than the scheduled time. many runners, including myself, braved the pouring rain (with or without ponchos) and crossed the finishing line in the new prison compound.

i got to thank the rain as i ran faster than usual, lest the rain water seeped into my iphone. as a result, i completed the run in 42m:10s (gun) / 41m:59s (net), an improvement over the race from last year.
