sentosa flowers 2011

the 3 significant events during the chinese new year period namely, the river hongbao, sentosa flowers and chingay, are not to be missed, especially the river hongbao and sentosa flowers, considering the long weekends.

chinese new year day 3 was spent in sentosa, surrounded by over 40,000 flowers and the countless human traffic.

Human Traffic

the zodiac spring rabbit, adorned with carnations, chrysanthemums and cupheas, is one of the giant flower sculpture. clear signage had been displayed for the entrance and exit to from the photo shoot with the spring rabbit, and I others who refused to queue, tried to capture the giant from the side.

Zodiac Spring Rabbit

the centerpiece of resorts world sentosa’s lunar new year celebrations is none other than the 4.5 storeys high, rotatable rabbit.

Fortune Rabbit

the sun was up in the afternoon and most of the pictures appeared dark on one side and bright on the other, depending on the position of the flower objects. it wasn’t till the overcast sky in the late afternoon, just before it rained, was the time conducive to capture the little objects, with lesser harsh highlights and shadows. i was cursing under my breathe when trying to zoom in as far as i possibly could, on my tamron. though macro photography is not my forte, but i regretted in not having a macro lens.

Tulip

with the consequent rain in the afternoons, i doubt most of the flowers can last till the end of the show. it would be best to visit before most are to be destroyed by the rain, mud and crowd.

p.s more photos available on flickr.
