running is for girls
nike’s first ever all girls run in the marina barrage. the route was relatively flat, except for the gentle gradient across the marina channel. the path, however, was narrow and took us around the new marina bay waterfront promenade. the 2 water stations were situated comfortably about 1.6km apart, and both offered plain water and 100plus.
even though i completed the race in a less than satisfactory result (pending final chip time from the officials), i’m glad i didn’t collapse in the intense heat or threw up the chicken rice i had an hour prior to the run. there were live band performances by 53A at the race village. the girls were treated to soy ice cream, a buffet spread of danish, muffins and sandwiches, snapshots and leg massage.
i didn’t expect a finisher medal nor a gift. the girls were curious over the “thing” in the black boxes stacked up at the exit.
by far, the most practical gift for a girl – ear rings frame.
2 more women’s run to complete before i conclude my runs for the year.
