eee-haa lunch at cowboy tavern
the farewell lunch was supposed to be at botak jones.
little did we know that the coffee shop had been converted to a restaurant with a mid-west theme. left with no choice after 5 minutes walk from the bus stop, we settled for cowboy tavern. the moment we step into the tavern, we felt like we were being transported back into the mid-west, with pictures of the cowboys and the buildings you would usually spot in the western movies. to fit into the cowboy theme, the waiters and waiteresses are dressed in western wear – cowboy hat, jeans, bandanna.
the main courses are priced reasonably at $9.90 and the portion is quite filling. you can opt for grilled/fried seafood and meat combos, with 3 different sauces (tomato basil or mushroom or black pepper) to choose from, or spaghetti. i had the grilled prawns and beef combo with black pepper sauce.
top up an additional $3.90 for the cowboy corner, and you are entitled to a counter filled with free flow of soup (mushroom/minestrone), garlic bread, cold/hot drinks and ice cream. the service is impeccable, with the staff taking time to explain to us on the food selection. soon after we’d placed our order, we were served with garlic bread, served piping hot from the cowboy corner. food was served subsequently, after 10 to 15 minutes, as promised by the waitress who took our orders.
every good meal must always end with an ice-cream. i helped myself to 3 servings of ice-cream (heavenly~). if we’d more time and probably more room for food, we would have tried the finger food.
nevertheless, it was an amazing lunch with good company. it is definitely worth a 2nd visit with the hubby.
