new hangout for 1-for-1 lunch

the last frequently visited eatery for the one-for-one lunch promotion was at swensen’s last year. ice edge cafe, located about 5 minutes walk away from kovan mrt, is  our new found lunch hangout for birthdays and farewells. the one of one lunch promotion includes all items in the menu, except for the pizzas and ice-cream.

feeling hungry and the need of carbs for the evening run, i had the seafood aglio olio spaghetti.

on first look, the dish was covered with many thin slices of garlic. thankfully, the taste of the garlic wasn’t overpowering and surprising, those little devils didn’t even taste like garlic. the chef went easy on the spaghetti even though i requested for extra spiciness. the spaghetti was done al dente and the serving was good enough for me. i would have preferred for more seafood ingredients though.

if you are dining in with a group of friends, do order the pizza or the fried calamari rings. there is a hint of spiciness in the calamari rings, and pair well with the salsa dip.

you can’t leave the cafe without an ice cream. for durian lovers, the mao shan wang is a must try. there are alcoholic infused ones like the vanilla champagne, rum and raisin, lychee martini, baileys. unlike the lychee martini, the vanilla champagne and the rum and raisin has a stronger taste of the alcohol.

there aren’t many seats indoor, and i supposed it could get crowded in the evenings. do check out the cafe when you are within the vicinity. i reckon we will be back for the lunch promotion in the coming months.
