first run in the west – jurong lake, japanese garden, chinese garden

accustomed to runs in the east, it was a truly refreshing experience to run in the west. the run took the participants through the scenic path of the japanese and chinese garden, though narrow but didn’t result in over congestion. having walked and seen the terrain in the japanese garden last week, i started out fast, hoping to make up for the walks i would take in the last few kilometers. it was a bad decision – there were only 2 water points throughout the entire 10km route, and the lack of prominent distance markers slowed me down. the first water point was located about 3.5 km after the start point, and the last was at 7 km. despite the shortage of water points, both water and 100+ were served and the 100+ served in the 2 stations wasn’t diluted.

the gps on my runkeeper lost track of my run at the 6 km mark 🙁

Runkeeper - Jurong Lake Run 2011

my iphone managed to capture the remaining distance though – maybe a bug as i saved the activity to runkeeper portal after the run.

the medal collection was a short walk, over the white rainbow bridge (白虹桥) into chinese garden, after crossing the finishing line and drinks station.

the finish time is better than last week’s. one run down for this month, and my last run 2 weeks from today.
