virtual windows on mac

i was tempted to virtualize windows vista on ubuntu, but ubuntu was running on 512MB memory and access to flash enable site came to a complete halt.

with the release of windows 7 rc and a 4GB imac, it would be interesting to virtualize microsoft product on a mac. 😀 the installation would not have materialized without careful research on successful installation – http://crave.cnet.co.uk/software/0,39029471,49302269,00.htm. virtualbox is another freeware desktop virtualization program from sun microsystems. it was installed on my previous ubuntu system but didn’t have the opportunity to venture into the program.

installation is a breeze for me but  using a mac mouse on windows virtual environment is a new experience for me. i feel handicapped with a right-moused click. after a day’s of playing around with the keyboard combination and mouse clicks:

Internet Explorer 8:

Control + Mouse Click = New Tab
Shift + Mouse Click = New Window

in my own personal opinion, windows vista and 7, compared to the previous version, is more user intuitive and friendly. no comments on the performance portion as only avg antivirus and windows live messenger have been installed. i’ve come almost to an end to the initial installation and am hungry for some tweaks. you might be interested in the 15 things to do after installing windows 7 rc or tips from lifehacker and gizmodo.

even though the rc version will not expire till june 1, 2010, there are already posts on march 1, 2010 nightmare where the system will shutdown every 2 hours! 😯

Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use.

how glad i am that windows 7 rc has been installed as a virtual environment, just delete and life on mac moves on as usual.
