the nation celebrates

the padang was peppered with red and white umbrellas on the nation’s birthday.

the same goodie bag were issue, but with additional gifts – one ground sheet, one candle, a pair of percussion stick and an umbrella. the red canopy that formed the cover of the umbrella can be detached to form the white portion of the nation flag. i would say the umbrella served 2 purposes on that day, one was to shield us from the scorching sun, and two to form the largest human flag of 13,000 on national day.

it was an awesome sight, when viewed from the top.

we were informed prior to the record breaking moment, the direction where the red lions will appear, the f16s and the chinook with the nation flag. that got most of us excited, and readied our cameras for the “moment”. despite the candid calls from the emcee not to turn to the direction of the chinook and the flying flag, lest causing the human flag formation to go out of shape, the crowd flashed out their cameras, mobile phones…
