The iPhone 4S
the highly anticipated iphone 5 wasn’t announced in the keynote speech this morning by Tim Cooks. weeks before the keynote, there were leaks on the announcement of 2 iphones – the iphone 4S and iphone 5. instead, a bumped up version of the iphone 4S, in iOS 5 and boasted with a dual core A5 chip, with an all-new 8MP camera, and a few other features had been announced. a quarter to the keynote speech, apple leaked a bit of information regarding the next iphone on their japanese website.

the antenna design on the iphone 4S has been changed, with an improved call quality, and data speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps (dependent on the carrier’s network).
the iphone 4S with the dual core A5 chip is quipped to deliver two times more processing power, which increases the responsiveness of the device. graphics-intensive apps perform even better with the seven times more faster graphics. the power-efficient chip, coupled with the iOS 5, is said to deliver an outstanding battery life without any worry on the impact on the life of the battery while checking emails, playing videos/games and making phone calls.
the new camera in iphone 4S, with a 8-megapixels CMOS illuminated sensor, get you 73% more light than the iphone 4 5-megapixels sensor. it simply means, no matter how many people, how much light, and how much action you capture, everything looks exactly as it should be. editing is now possible without third-party photo editing apps. with a remodeled lens system and a faster f/2.4 aperture, it will help reduce motion blur and help takes pictures in low light conditions.
with the new sensor and lens system, the camera is able to take stunning 1080p HD videos with video stabilization, and temporal noise reduction that helps take videos in low light conditions.
the other notable feature that is available only on the iphone 4S, is the Siri app. it lets you use your voice to call people, send and receive text messages and emails, schedule meetings, and more. it is able to interpret what you are saying, and interacts back to you. if you ask “do i need an umbrella?”, Siri gives you a weather forecast in your location. or if you say “set an alarm for 6 am”, it will automatically set the alarm for you. or if you ask “where’s the closest atm?”, it finds a few nearby. it is indeed a nice and neat feature to have, if this feature is available in singapore.
the iphone 4S will be available in black or white with the 16GB, 32GB or 64GB models. it will only be available first in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Japan on Oct 14. the iphone 4S will be rolled out worldwide to 22 more countries by the end of October including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
