the smart camera
the samsung galaxy camera is basically a compact camera with a large (4.8″) high-definition touch-screen, that runs on android 4.1 jelly bean operating system, with 3G/LTE and wifi connectivity, and allows you to upload pictures through instagram, facebook, and other social media platforms available on android.
the camera is like a Galaxy SIII phone, with a mega 21x optical lens on the front, and a large screen glued to the back. the only difference is that the galaxy camera does not allow you to make calls, other than the support of skype or other voip applications.
the hubby and i were sourcing for a compact camera, with reasonable specifications, to carry with on our short overseas running trips. the camera is slightly heavier than the standard point-and-shoot camera. nevertheless, i am won over by the large touch-screen, shooting modes, and most importantly, the ability to share the images easier via email or social media apps.
being a noob to android, i am still fiddling with the operations and controls of the foreign operating system. most of the shots are taken indoors, under normal to low-light conditions, and quality is acceptable, far better than my iphone. the photos are uploaded primarily to instagram, and the device is not compatible for flickr 🙁
with less than a week of usage, hopefully i have the time for a more intense field test this weekend.
