the queue, the chicken, and the joy

what’s the hype behind the popular fast food restaurant from Philippines? how a bite from the crispy chicken will bring upon joy, or the cute lil’ bee mascot? i queued an hour to experience the hype, and to catch up with an ex-filipino colleague. i had been warned, jokingly, to reply “你好”, should the one taking the order speaks in tagalog.

i could understand why my colleague opted for the spaghetti meal, despite that it comes with only a piece of chicken. just the sight of the melted cheese is good enough to entice me.

each chicken joy meal pack comes with a brown gravy, which tastes like the sauce from kfc’s mashed potatoes.

the verdict? i love the chicken – crispy yet not greasy. after the joyful dinner, the 1-hour queue was soon at the back of my head. perhaps a mid-afternoon snack on the spaghetti before the launch of their 2nd outlet.
